Description
She is a fierce and often rude or brutish Dryad who fits well into the "Amazon" archetype. She's won many battles fighting with and defending her romantic partner, Nepheli. Khaerena helps with Dryad affairs and exchanges with global organizations and other races, but generally stays in the Catharis Jungle, where the majority of the Spiritwood Groves are located. She is skilled with archery, defense tactics, and healing magic.
Dryads are basically a race of plant people. They are born, fully grown, by a special breed of tree, the first of which were magically imbued by a Messenger of Ishlarana, the Eidolon of Earth, with the ability to create sentient beings.
The Dryads are mostly female, likely because of all of their patrons being female, and parts of their souls beings infused with the first Spiritwood Trees. The largely outnumbered men, however, are not a problem with their population, as the entire race is born from these trees.
Dryads and the Devoted of Ishlarana guard Spiritwood Groves fiercely, for when a Spiritwood Tree dies, the Dryad who was born from it dies as well, and vice versa. Luckily for the Dryads, these trees are fairly resilient, being magical beings themselves. The Dryad dying first, followed by the tree, is much more common.
Dryads embrace the teachings of the Celestials, and are the most active race besides the Celestials in tending to the legacy of the Humans. Part of their interest comes from one of their founding mothers having been a human from the Amari Isles, and part comes from their close relation and respect for the Celestials and their teachings.
Dryads, for the most part, advocate for peace, though there are many who would rather take the fight to their enemy than wait to defend themselves, and a surprising number who antagonize their enemies an other dryads alike.
Under the right conditions, Dryads can become mischievous, violent, and even murderous. However, this is often due to a new Spiritwood Grove being grow in a place interwoven with negative or evil energy. These mistakes stopped after the first two decades of the Dryads' existence, but the original Dryads of those Groves sometimes seek to increase their numbers by planting more Trees to create more Dryads.
The vast majority of Dryad society, though they prefer peaceful solutions, act as an Amazonian society. There are many lesbian relationships, and coupled with an unfortunately common scorn for male Dryads, this leads to many gay relationships as well. The Dryads who are true to the teachings of Ishlarana and the Creator overcome the sexism in their society, and thankfully, this does not happen with only a select few.
Dryads are essentially immortal, with an immunity to a number of diseases and magical afflictions, though they can most certainly die in battle. As such, combat training and skill is coveted, as they need many forms of defense to combat both global threats and the constant onslaughts lead by their brothers and sisters from Tainted Groves.
